"An Ode to Locksmiths" is a song by Type O Negative, included on their seventh and final album Dead Again, released in 2007. This song features guitar riffs sounding like "Sabbath Bloody Sabbath" and grooves resembling "Evil Woman" by Black Sabbath. Canto I of this track, titled "The Keys", is about finding a key to unlock the door accessing the Garden of Eden; Canto II: "Tree of Knowledge" talks about Satan forcing Eve to eat a forbidden apple from the tree after she was raped; and Canto III: "Ain't Goin' Home (Nowhere to Go)" talks about having nowhere to go while being in the Eden.
Lyrics[]
[Canto I. "The Keys"]
Where the fuck are my keys?
Been given the keys I knew I'd receive
Be careful what you're asking for
Thy rod and thy staff simply twelve toned math
An earful opening all doors
Simon the roman gone fission for man
If you're caught is to be freed
Come open your lock by using a rock
Or sowing the proper seeds
[Canto II. "Tree of Knowledge"]
Woe to thee all woman of land, air and sea
Adam was the serpent apple 'tween his knees
Seduced by a snake worshiped by nations
Banished forth, from Eden it's the male who is Satan
From the tree of knowledge (a metaphor for sex)
Plucked a ripened globs of fruit that of her innocence
Since forbidden resisted forcing her to taste
Now I know why girls hate boys 'cause Eve was in fact raped, raped
[Canto III. "Ain't Goin' Home (Nowhere to Go)"]
You ain't goin' nowhere
Everybody, ready, let's go
We ain't goin' home - got nowhere to go
We ain't goin' home - got nowhere to go
We ain't goin' home - got nowhere to go
We ain't goin' home - got nowhere to go
Nowhere to go
Nowhere to go
Come on, you come on
We ain't goin' home - got nowhere to go
We ain't goin' home - got nowhere to go
We ain't goin' home - got nowhere to go
We ain't goin' home - got nowhere to go
Nowhere to go
Nowhere to go
Nowhere to go
