Peter is a unit of length invented by Type O Negative fans. It is named after their leader Peter Steele, whose height is almost exactly two meters, so one peter equates to two meters, 78.74 inches, or 2.187 yards. Like the meter, prefixes like milli- and kilo- can be added to before 'peter', so one millipeter is two millimeters and one kilopeter is two kilometers or 1.243 miles. For example, a CD disc measures six centipeters across. The Moon is located about 192,000 kilopeters away from Earth while the Earth is located about 75 million kilopeters away from the Sun.
